Bill Carroll, Supervisor, branch 5, Healthcare

Bill Carroll has been building things for as long as he can remember. A hands-on learner in school, he found out about MetroPower’s apprenticeship program from a family friend and began his journey as an apprentice right out of high school.

During his four-year apprenticeship, Bill worked under Cason Hammond, who helped train him to think “outside the box.” He also credits Ricky Sinyard for much of his career training and for giving Bill the opportunity to begin managing projects one year after completing his apprenticeship.

His advice on becoming an apprentice? Do it now. “Work hard and take it in just like your education,” he says. “The pay is good, it is rewarding work and there’s an opportunity for your future. Embrace it!”

Over the years, he continued to learn and grow in leadership positions, and today Bill is a superintendent in the healthcare industry. His team recently did a complex job at Children’s Hospital at Navicent, running the Central Energy Plant upgrade as the hospital continued its operations.

Bill will celebrate 20 years of service with MetroPower in August. While driving around Macon, he is proud to see all of the locations where his team has completed jobs. When he’s not working, Bill enjoys traveling, visiting the beach and spending time with his wife, their 15-year-old son and two dogs.
