MetroPower Supports The Arts
From February until May of 2009, Albany Electric will present the PieperPower
Photorealist art collection at the Albany Art Museum. Twenty seven paintings,
primarily watercolors, have been collected over two decades. Some of the
pieces have been presented throughout museums in the United States and Europe.
A reception for employees was held on Thursday February 19th, 2009. All
employees and their families are welcome to attend this free reception with refreshments
and presentation regarding the collection.
This artistic movement, Photorealism, began in the late 1960’s. Each
artist held an interest in rather specific and highly detailed subjects. Throughout
the artwork, diverse and yet common themes, are presented. The Photorealists
embraced photographed objects and scenes in a very realistic manner. The
skill of the artist and the respect for excellence attracted Richard Pieper’s
attention. Mr. Pieper viewed the detailed and intricate work of these artists
as a reflection of the craftsmanship of electricians and other skilled workers
which he highly respected and admired.
MetroPower is very excited and honored to present the entire collection at the
Albany Museum of Art. The artwork will travel the Southeastern United
States through 2010. For more information regarding future locations, please
