MetroPower Completes Pulp and Paper Project in Northeast Florida

With more than 20 years of experience as a premier electrical contractor in the pulp and paper industry, we recently completed our first project in northeast Florida.

“Our relationships in the pulp and paper industry consistently produce opportunities for us to exceed client expectations by completing projects safely, efficiently and within budget,” said Spinks Holman, project manager for MetroPower. “We want to continue to expand in this industry, so it’s exciting to see our team successfully break into a new market and deliver the same level of expertise that will ultimately results in more business.”

MetroPower was awarded the PM4 Drives project in Palatka, Florida last August, however the bulk of the work was completed during a seven day outage in October. The team of 25 replaced all DC drives on the wet end of PM4, installed new cable buss and feeders from the transformer to the new drives, replaced 50 percent of the armature cables from the drive to the motors, installed new communication and controls between the drive and master, and installed new encoders for all motors from the drive cabinet.

This was also the first time MetroPower worked with Hi-Tech, an automation company recently acquired by PieperPower. Hi-Tech managed the design engineering and construction management while MetroPower completed all electrical installation.
